The book is unpacked in the browser. Use it for a private library without sending files anywhere.
Drop in a book, swap the jacket, and download an EPUB whose cover shows up in Kindle, Kobo, Apple Books, and Calibre. Useful when a private library looks blank or you want one consistent cover style.
Your file stays on this device. Nothing is uploaded.

Drag the image to reposition it. Recommended cover size is 1600 × 2560 pixels (2:3), a ratio Kindle and Kobo display cleanly.

If conversion left a blank thumbnail, you can add a cover to the EPUB instead of only replacing one.
The download includes the cover tags Kindle, Kobo, Apple Books, and Calibre actually read.
Compare the old jacket and the new one, then scale and crop to a vertical 2:3 frame.
The file is named with -new-cover so you do not overwrite the original by mistake.
If the file is not an EPUB, is DRM-locked, or is damaged, the page says which one.
An EPUB is a zip of chapters plus a small package file that points at the jacket image. Kindle and Kobo do not hunt the zip for a file named cover.jpg. They follow that pointer. Send to Kindle, an old export, or a sloppy conversion often keeps the chapters and loses the pointer, so the shelf shows a blank or a generic book. A Kobo EPUB cover fails for the same reason.
This page rewrites that pointer, embeds a JPEG, and adds a cover page. That is the same information Calibre writes when you use “Edit metadata,” without installing the desktop app for a single book. It will not remove DRM, and it will not repair a file that is no longer a valid EPUB.
Drop the EPUB here, upload a replacement image, crop it, and download the new file. Import that file into Calibre or your reader. The original stays untouched.
Kindle needs the cover named inside the book’s package file, not just sitting in the zip. After a conversion or an email-to-Kindle transfer, that link is often gone, so you get a blank thumbnail. Replacing the cover with this tool writes the link back.
Yes. The file carries the tags those apps and Calibre use, so a Kobo EPUB cover and an Apple Books cover come from the same download.
No. Processing happens locally in your browser. Closing the tab clears the book from memory.
No. Bookstore files with DRM are refused. The tool only edits EPUB files you can already open without a lock.
A vertical 2:3 image is the right shape. 1600 × 2560 pixels is a solid target for Kindle and Kobo. The crop box uses that ratio and the download is a JPEG at that size.
Yes. You can add a cover to an EPUB that has none. The preview says “No cover yet” until you do.
Converters sometimes keep the text and skip the cover record. Run the book through this EPUB cover changer, then import the download again.
The EPUB and the cover image are read only in your browser. They are not uploaded, stored, or sent with analytics. The page may record an anonymous page view and a count when you download, without the filename or book contents.
This free tool is provided as is. You are responsible for the books you edit. Do not use it to strip DRM or to share files you do not have the right to change. Output can vary slightly by reader firmware.
